YINI student required to Create appropriate Standard Operating Procedure documentation to support product manufacture through Fabrication, Insulation, Final Assembly, Test & Inspection and Despatch stages plus other sections as identified within the factory (a continuation of YinI work started in 2006).

Main challenges are to work alongside production operators to capture the methods, establish and then communicate best practice.  Information must be clear enough for the new starter and also suitable as a prompt for the experienced operator.

The student engineer will act as an assistant to the engineers in the company and under supervision will produce calculations and design drawings for any of the current  projects.

 

They will develop drawing skills and learn various software packages to assist in the design of a range of projects. The student will often spend time initially on simple structures which will develop his general understanding of engineering. However their experience during the year will hopefully give them a good start in their engineering career.

 Y 10 Student Engineer
Location:Huddersfield

The Site employs around 350 people and operates 6 production plants, utilising complex chemical processes demanding a broad range engineering support service.  In 2007, the site won a nationally recognised award for its effective engineering, awarded by the Chemical Industries Association.

 

The Site Engineering group provides support and services to the manufacturing plants primarily in the fields of mechanical, electrical and control & instrumentation.  It includes maintenance, reliability troubleshooting and improvements, lean and effective engineering.  It also deals with the requirements of regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with rules and guidelines.

Mechanical, Electrical and Control & Instrumentation engineering.

Successful students will be supporting the Site Engineering Group and typically have 2-3 small projects to manage and complete during the year, in addition to assorted shorter timescale tasks.

 Y 11 Assistant Business Reporting Analyst

General Terms        : 37 Hours per week, 20 Days Holiday, Driving is not essential though meetings are often held in various offices. Whilst not essential, a willingness to travel would allow the student to fully appreciate the placement year.

                                                                                                                                   

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

§         Provide detailed operational performance and financial information to the MeterPlus management team.

§         Report performance within the Meter Reading and Installations departments on a regular basis.

§         Using Microsoft Excel to set up new reports, changing formats, adjusting reports, and building new reports.

§         Contacting Team Managers in Yorkshire and the North East to deliver specific reporting requirements.

§         Liaise with colleagues in the Commercial and Business Development teams (particularly billing) to ensure that accurate and timely reports are delivered.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

The following competencies would be beneficial but not essential to the applicant. It is expected that such competencies would be developed over the placement year.

 

·        Numerically strong, as required to calculate financial and statistical information.

·        Strong with PC applications– Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

·        Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with colleagues and clients at all levels.

·        Knowledge of reporting tools. MeterPlus use a tool called Business Objects, a Database based reporting system.

·        Monitors and actions procurement of equipment and resources – under authorisation.
